Bio
Jason Bonsignore was a stellar goalscorer at a very young age. In 1992 he moved from his hometown, Rochester, NY, to the OHL's Newmarket Royals. His offensive production declined as he moved to major juniors, but he was nevertheless ranked high by NHL scouts and he was drafted as the fourth overall pick in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft by the Edmonton Oilers.

After spending his major junior career with three different teams, Bonsignore moved to the Edmonton Oilers. However, he struggled to meet the expectations set on him by the Oilers and was assigned to improve his game and fitness in the AHL. Despite gradually improving his game, he fell out of favour with the Edmonton Oilers GM Glen Sather. In December 1997, he was traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning alongside Bryan Marchment and Steve Kelly for Roman Hamrlik and the rights to Mike Comrie.

After the trade to the Tampa Bay Lightning, Bonsignore saw his ice time increase in the NHL. However, despite managing to crack the Lightning lineup, his contract was not extended. During the following summer he was signed by the Toronto Maple Leafs, only to be cut late in the training camp and assigned to the AHL's St. John's Maple Leafs. He was released from his contract after suffering an ankle injury midseason. After parting ways with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Bonsignore opted to not play for two seasons for personal reasons.

In October 2002 he signed with the AHL's Springfield Falcons and managed to secure a contract with the Phoenix Coyotes later in the season. Prior to the 2003-04 season he attempted another comeback to the NHL by attending the Atlanta Thrashers training camp only to be cut from the roster. He was cut from the Carolina Hurricanes training camp prior to the 2005-06 season. After the unsuccessful attempts to return the NHL, he attempted to revive his career in the Finnish SM-liiga, but was unable to secure a spot in the Pelicans and Ilves lineups. He ended his career with the ECHL's Trenton Devils.
