Günther Lanzinger played for his hometown's local club Villacher SV throughout his entire career. He appeared in more than 1.000 official matches for the club over the course of 21 seasons and was part of five out of Villach's six championship winning teams in the club's history.
Furthermore, he represented Team Austria in 127 international matches including five World Championships (A-pool) and two Olympics. Lanzinger collected 23 points (14 goals, 9 assists) and 70 penalty minutes for the national team.
He officially retired on May 19th, 2010, the same day as his longstanding club colleague Wolfgang Kromp.
