Number 11 retired by Vancouver Canucks

Maki was diagnosed with brain cancer 17 months prior to his death. His #11 jersey was unofficially retired by the Vancouver Canucks until Mark Messier, who had worn #11 with the Edmonton Oilers and New York Rangers, joined the team as an unrestricted free agent in 1997.
