Daniel 'Dan' DeVos and his wife Pamella DeVos got involved in hockey through their company DP Fox Ventures. They bought the Kansas City Blades from Russ & Diane Parker on March 12, 1996. He expanded his IHL portfolio the following season by joining forces with David Van Andel in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to launch the Grand Rapids Griffins.
He acquired an ECHL franchise, the Orlando Solar Bears, with his father Richard DeVos and his brother Dick DeVos in May 2017. His father had previously owned an IHL franchise that carried the same name.
