Nashville Predators acquire Jérémy Lauzon from Seattle Kraken for mid-round pick

The Nashville Predators have acquired left-shot defenceman Jérémy Lauzon from the Seattle Kraken for a 2022 second-round draft pick.

Lauzon, 24, has put up 6 points in 53 games with the Kraken this season, averaging nearly 18 minutes a night in all situations. This is the final season of a two-year deal for Lauzon that he signed with the Boston Bruins before joining the Kraken via the expansion draft, one that pays him $850,000 per season. He'll be a restricted free agent at season's end.

It's a difficult move to understand on its face. Lauzon's a cost-controlled, relatively young defensive defenceman, and that sort of player, in theory, can be pretty valuable. The problem here, of course, is that his performance has been anything but that. Lauzon's two-way profile leaves a lot to be desired, certainly.
