Trade Analysis: What are the Anaheim Ducks Getting in Prospect Rearguard Axel Andersson?

The Boston Bruins and Anaheim Ducks made their biggest moves of the trade deadline several days before the clock struck noon Pacific on February 24th.

Ondrej Kase went Boston’s way after failing health in the form of repeated head injuries and ice time heading in the same direction paved the way for his exit from Orange County. In exchange, the Bruins sent a first-round pick, the majority of David Backes‘ contract, and prospect blueliner Axel Andersson.

There’s a lot to like about this deal for both sides.

Kase owes to one of the better underlying profiles in hockey since joining the league as a regular in the 2016-17 season, marked by prolific ice-time adjusted scoring and a robust two-way presence. Better still, there’s another two years on Kase’s deal at a manageable $2.6-million per se
