Brennan Othmann has had a strange development trajectory. Despite the path he has taken, he is currently one of the most intriguing forwards knocking on the door of the NHL. Othmann was drafted 16th overall by the New York Rangers in 2021. 2021 was one of the drafts most significantly affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. This was so true for Othmann that he had to go to Switzerland to play in his draft season because the OHL did not have a season. The only North American ice he saw in 2020-21 was at the Under 18 World Junior Championships.
