Josh Roy is a great underdog story. From a fifth-round NHL draft pick to a QMJHL star to a major contributor for Canada on the international stage to being a top prospect for the Montreal Canadiens. At every step, he’s had his doubters. Now that he has a couple dozen NHL games under his belt the questions remain.

Roy hasn’t always been an underdog. Back in 2019, he was drafted first overall in the QMJHL draft. His first season in major junior was affected by COVID and his production was modest. In 2020-21, he split his season between the Saint John Sea Dogs and Sherbrooke Phoenix. He was exactly at a point-per-game in 35 games played.
