The Ottawa Senators came into 2023-24 with expectations of competing for a playoff spot. The season has not gone according to plan, but in an otherwise disappointing campaign, Shane Pinto has been a bright spot. Where does Pinto fit into the depth chart long term? Will he be locked into the top six and get regular power play time? What is his points upside? We’ll dig into those questions and more.

Pinto was drafted early in the second round in 2019, 32nd overall by the Senators. He was over a point per game in his draft season, which he spent in the USHL. He split the season between the Lincoln Stars and Tri-City Storm. Pinto attended the University of North Dakota during the 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons. In his two NCAA seasons, he was over a point per game.
