It has not been a good first quarter of the season for Minnesota Wild winger Matt Boldy. He stands with one goal and eight points in 12 games, having missed over two weeks due to an upper-body injury. For a 22-year-old budding star coming off a 31-goal, 63-point season, and 102 points across his first 128 games, it’s been a letdown. Let’s look at what made him successful early in his NHL career, what’s gone wrong this season (besides shooting 2.9%), and what the future looks like for him. 

Boldy’s entry to the NHL came in January of 2022 when he was called up from the AHL after posting 28 points in 24 games down there.
