Toronto, ONTARIO - The All-Star week had officially begun only moments earlier, but the Vancouver Canucks and Calgary Flames made a blockbuster deal while the majority of hockey media folks were gathered in Toronto and enjoying some refreshments on Gary Bettman’s tab.

The two teams had been rumoured to be involved in discussions for some time, with Christopher Tanev often cited as the main talking point. But in recent days, Elias Lindholm’s name popped up and it made a lot of sense. He’s the top centre asset on the rental market and Vancouver could really use another top centre.
