Central Europe Stock Watch: David Rozsíval, Marek Daníček build their highlight reels
The hockey season is almost halfway through and there are more national team events ahead. The senior national team will be in action and the World Juniors are knocking on the door. The junior players are showing their worth in the Extraliga and this is when the departure of young players abroad is very much discussed in the Czech Republic.
But a few of them are still in the country and showing great performances. A couple of them are eligible for this year's draft, some were overlooked from my perspective last draft.
Let's take a look.
Stock Rising 📈
David Rozsíval, F, HC Bílí Tygři Liberec U20 (2025 NHL Draft)
David Rozsíval, a promising young forward for Liberec, has shown consistent improvement across all levels of play. Known for his speed – an attribute he credits to genetics from his father, a former player – Rozsíval leverages his agility to create offensive opportunities both in transition and in set plays. His quick bursts make him effective in forechecking and tracking back on defence, while also allowing him to excel in breakaways and odd-man rushes.
Rozsíval has demonstrated versatility, successfully playing with older age groups during his developmental years. His ability to adapt to higher levels of competition has helped him refine his game, particularly in terms of hockey IQ and puck management. He has also proven to be a valuable playmaker.
Marek Daníček, F, HC Sparta Praha U20 (U20 Extraliga)
Marek Daníček, an 18-year-old forward from Kladno, Czechia, is a rising star playing for HC Sparta Prague in the Czech junior leagues known for his dynamic offensive abilities and clutch performances. Daníček has demonstrated excellent scoring ability, highlighted by his recent contributions – including a lot of highlight-reel goals.
With his skill set, Daníček effectively combines creativity with a strong hockey IQ. He excels in distributing the puck as well. His potential to become a top-tier forward depends on how he adapts later and develops his physical game. Though he’s a re-entry, keep your eyes on him with the upcoming draft.
Adam Novotný, LW/RW, Mountfield HK (2026 NHL Draft)
Adam Novotný is a highly regarded forward from Mountfield HK and a standout in Czech hockey. Born in November 2007 in Nový Bydžov, Czechia, Novotný has made waves as one of the brightest prospects for the NHL 2026 Draft from this country. At 6-foot-1, he brings an impressive combination of size, skill, and hockey intelligence for his age. He has a predatory instinct and a desire to finish. He manoeuvres well, and his vision makes him a quality distributor.
In the 2023-24 season, Novotný primarily played for Mountfield HK U20, where he dominated with 32 goals and 27 assists in 48 games. He also had a historic stint with Mountfield HK's senior team in the Czech Extraliga, becoming the league's youngest-ever goal scorer at just 15 years and 327 days old.
Selected 8th overall by the Peterborough Petes in the 2024 CHL Import Draft, Novotný is expected to transition to North American hockey to further refine his skills and adapt to its unique pace and style. His development trajectory indicates he could become a solid player.

Jakub Seidl, D, Bílí Tygři Liberec U20 (2026 NHL Draft)
Jakub Seidl is a 16-year-old defenceman playing for the Liberec U20 team in the Czech ELJ league. Standing at 6-foot and weighing 172 pounds, Seidl is a right-handed shot who has already showcased potential at both the club and international levels. Seidl's game is characterized by a balanced mix of defensive reliability and offensive instincts. He is particularly noted for his poise with the puck and his ability to make smart plays under pressure.
While his offensive numbers are modest – recording two points in 12 games during the 2024/25 ELJ season – his impact extends beyond the scoresheet. Seidl is effective at breaking up plays in his defensive zone, utilizing a strong positional sense and an active stick.
At the international level, Seidl represented Czechia in the 2024 Hlinka Gretzky Cup, where he gained valuable experience despite being held off the scoresheet in five games. This tournament highlighted his ability to adapt to high-pressure situations against elite competition.
Seidl is a promising defender who could be selected at the 2026 NHL Draft.

Jakub Konečný, C, HC Kometa Brno (Buffalo Sabres)
Jakub Konečný, a 22-year-old, is currently making strides with HC Kometa Brno in the Czech Extraliga. Drafted 216th overall by the Buffalo Sabres in 2020, Konečný has displayed promising offensive instincts and versatility as a center. He compensates for his relatively modest size with agility, hockey IQ, and a high compete level on the ice.
Konečný is a dynamic skater who excels in creating offensive opportunities for both himself and his teammates. His vision and quick decision-making are assets in high-pressure situations. While not a pure goal scorer, his playmaking skills and ability to operate effectively in tight spaces make him a valuable contributor on the attack. Defensively, Konečný has improved his positioning and commitment.
He is adapting well, but is falling off a bit with his production, but overall looks like a promising pro player.
