Philadelphia Flyers happily bought the Matvei Michkov mystery box

NASHVILLE, Tennessee – Matvei Michkov was the mystery box of the 2023 NHL box. 

Sure, he was well accepted as a top-talent, but because of geo-political developments, a KHL contract, and general silence, he was more of an idea than a player. 

Throughout this week in Nashville teams and fellow prospects wondered about Michkov, other top picks like Adam Fantilli and Will Smith had never met the Russian, weren’t even sure if they could pick him out if he walked down the street.
