Stanley Cup Notebook: Hill and Pietrangelo give Vegas a chance for "The Save" to mean something new

LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Jonathan Marchessault has seen that save before. 

It was six years ago, in Game 2 of the 2018 Stanley Cup Final. Braden Holtby diving to his right, making a paddle stop on Alex Tuch to preserve a victory that set the stage for the Washington Capitals gentleman’s sweep of the Vegas Golden Knights. 

It’s often simply referred to as “The Save,” celebrated in Washington, talked about with lament in Vegas as a turning point where a potential expansion year Stanley Cup run went sour.

And now the Golden Knights have their own version of the save. Better yet, “The Saves,” after Golden Knights’ heroics in the very same crease where Holtby thwarted Tuch in 2018.
