Take Town: The American Thanksgiving edition
It’s always so funny to me that there are rarely NHL games on American Thanksgiving. Why not? Almost a quarter of the league does not play in the U.S. and all I’m saying is wouldn’t it be nice to have a Battle of Alberta to watch at 9 p.m., ET tomorrow, instead of… nothing?
Two years ago the New Jersey Devils and the Montreal Canadiens played at Bell Centre on American Thanksgiving. It wasn't a marquee matchup but it was something.
Oh no, we couldn’t possibly go up against the Buffalo Bills-New Orleans Saints game! Those teams have a combined record of 11-9! That’s must-watch football!
Instead, on the night before, let’s have six games that start at 7 p.m. ET, two that start at 7:30, three that start at 10, and three others on various half-hours. Then on Friday, we can have three that start at 3:30, three more that start every hour on the hour from 4-6, another three at 7, one at 7:30, and then nothing until a 10:30 start time. That makes a lot more sense!
Let’s go.
