What We Learned: Red Wings keep getting points, but are they ready to compete?

The Detroit Red Wings have just five regulation losses in the last 15 games, and only eight on the season, total.

That's better than all but six other teams in the league, all of whom have had a lot more said and written about them over the past several seasons.

Not that there was a whole lot of reason to talk about the Red Wings for the past several years, given that they were initially in denial about the need for a rebuild and then, in hiring Steve Yzerman to be the general manager, embraced the philosophy for a period of a few seasons.
