It feels as if decades have passed since the 2017 NHL Entry Draft. Such is the state of the contemporary NHL, a constantly shifting landscape that is getting populated by faster and younger players with each passing season.

The reality is much less daunting. Two years is barely a blink of the eye in any capacity, much less for the prospects travelling the sometimes long and winding road from the draft stage to a full-time NHL career.

So, when I audit the early returns on the 2017 NHL Entry Draft relative to the board I created for the Nation Network, let’s all keep that in mind. We’re looking at which prospects are progressing relative to their draft position, and looking at how I’ve performed relative to the NHL in that span.
