He improved to 50 goals and 73 points in 1976 and won a Canada Cup in 1977. Gare later set career highs in 1980 with 56 goals and 89 points. He also captained the Sabres from 1978-81 and the Red Wings from 1983-86. The 2x All-Star retired in 1987 with 354 goals and 331 assists.
