Steve Carrier, a Québec City police officer, was signed as an emergency backup goalie by the Michigan K-Wings on November 14, 1997. Martin Legault was slated to start against the Québec Rafales, but his flight had been delayed. Carrier ended up playing the first 3 minutes and 29 seconds of the game, keeping his net clean, facing one shot, before he was relieved by Legault.
