Player Biography and Trivia

On May 11, 2011, Lötscher was involved in a serious traffic accident. He was reportedly walking on the side of the road, when a car hit him straight-on. The nineteen-year-old woman driver tested positive for alcohol. Lötscher torn his ACL and suffered a heavy concussion and was put in intensive care. As reported on August 11, 2011 he is expected to return to hockey.

On June 8th 2012, Kevin Lötscher received an exceptional case to play for the 2012-2013 season in the Swiss Elite Jr. A-Championship as a 24-year old. This move should help to accustom himself to the speed of Pro-Hockey.

On February 11th, 2014, Kevin Lötscher announced his retirement from professional hockey citing he could never again be the player he envisions himself being. He was still feeling effects from his accident in 2011.
