Trivia
In late December 1999 forward Greg Gatto played in goal for some 12 minutes and 15 seconds during an away game against the Anchorage Aces. Gatto saved all nine shots he faced that night.
The Colorado Gold Kings Head Coach Kirk Tomlinson assigned Gatto to put on the goalie gear to replace the emergency back-up goalie Jeff Varvil who pulled a hamstring in the third period. Varvil had been summoned to play in the game after the Gold Kings starter Aaron Schweitzer was hit in the neck by a puck during the pregame warm-up. Coincidentally the puck that injured Schweitzer was shot by Gatto. As coach Tomlinson did not have any volunteers, he deemed it fitting that the player who injured Schweitzer should put play goalie.
