A defenseman with good offensive vision, Sulku was an asset on the powerplay. Physically strong and with solid two-way instincts, he was also quite reliable defensively.

Sulku signed two-year deal with Brynäs on April 5, 2004. On December 12, he broke his wrist and missed the rest of year. The defenseman also sat out the entire 2005-2006 season and subsequently retired due to the injury.
