Khatulev was the first Soviet player ever to be drafted in the NHL, but didn't know that he was drafted for the next three years. In 1981 Khatulev was disqualified for life as he hit a referee during a fight between him and Vladimir Vikulov. He suffered from alcoholism and died on October 7, 1994. Daugther: Kristine Hatuleva
