Nancy Walton Laurie, the daughter of James 'Bud' Walton and one of the Walmart fortune heirs, and her husband Bill Laurie acquired the St. Louis Blues from Clark Enterprises (formerly Kiel Partners), a group of 19 local investors, in 1999. They sold the NHL franchise to two groups led by Dave Checketts in March 24, 2006.
The Lauries also owned the Worcester IceCats, having acquired the AHL franchise from Roy Boe and Roger Marino on September 14, 2001. They sold the franchise to Bruce Saurs and Anne Griffith on November 9, 2004.
