Marcel Elphège Dionne was one of the Canadian investors who were awarded an ECHL expansion franchise, the South Carolina Stingrays, in 1993. He sold his stake in the franchise to local investor group consisting of Lynn Bernstein, the Greenwald family, Harvey Nathan, Edwin Pearlstine and the Zucker family on March 20, 1995.
Unhappy with how Joseph Scanlon operated the franchise, Dionne replaced his fellow Canadian investor as the franchise President and CEO in December 1993.
