David William Berryman was a junior hockey player and an accomplished tennis player, as well as a tennis coach. He was also a hockey executive and a franchise owner.
He and his brother Tim became minority owners (25%) of the Louisiana IceGators in 1995. He was also the Vice President and General Manager of the franchise, before he and his brother resigned on December 9, 1997, after having agreed to sell their stake to the other owners, Logan Nichols, Ernie Parker and Bob Wright.
The brothers moved on from Louisiana, after they were granted an ECHL expansion franchise, which became the Arkansas RiverBlades. His brother sold his stake in the franchise (49%) to Equity Broadcasting on March 30, 2000. He sold his stake (51%) to the same company in November 2001. The franchise folded after the following season.
