He and his wife Brenda Vranckaert acquired a WHL franchise, the Victoria Cougars, from Jim Hartshorne and J. Fraser McColl on April 14, 1989. They sold the franchise to Rick Brodsky on March 25, 1992. He died on November 9, 1993.
