Even before this weekend, the Hobey Baker race was fascinating.

Often, there is a single standout candidate, or perhaps two, that have clearly separated themselves from the field by this point in the season. Arguments may be made one way or the other, but it's one or two guys and there's very little to really say otherwise.

Not so much this year. There are legitimately, in a way I can't really remember, six, seven, maybe eight very serious candidates for the award.

Even beyond that, though, multiple players who have a serious chance to at least be in the Hobey Hat Trick faced interesting debates because they are on the same team. Boston College's Gabe Perreault, the nation's leading scorer (14-34—48 in 29 games), is teammates with Cutter G
