It only took about eight hours on top of yesterday’s three-or-so, but we finally, almost mercifully, reached the conclusion of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. 217 draft picks later, the hockey world shifts its focus from the draft to free agency in a year unlike any other.

Not so fast, though. There’s still enough time between now and Friday to take stock of the wild and whacky world of this year’s draft, an inordinately long one, both in terms of the time spent waiting from the start of day two until its conclusion and how long it took to get here. If we’re using the Hlinka-Gretzky Cup as a launching off point for this year’s draft, that’s 432 days, for anyone keeping track.
