An athletic and agile goaltender with excellent quickness and lateral movement. Tabaracci relied heavily on his reflexes and mobility, at times at the expense of his technical game. He was also capable of handling loose pucks effectively around his crease.

He is one of the most talented goaltenders in the NHL in terms of his agility and quickness.

—Dave Prior 1998

Tabby has very quick lateral movement. He is good at getting to loose pucks, clearing them out of trouble.

—Jim Schoenfeld 1995

Rick is a very outgoing type of individual, very confident; shows a lot of confidence and that rubs off on players.
