Avery manages the puck well and provides defensive abilities. He supports teammates well in all three zones, pressuring opponents, running the right routes and pouncing on pucks as
soon as they spring loose. Knowing the position of teammates and defenders, he makes the right plays on retrievals, starting breakouts with a couple of touches, trying give-and-goes, and pushing the plays from the defensive end to the offensive zone. -EliteProspects 2025 NHL Draft Guide
