Carl Scheer was a basketball executive from the early 1970s to the early 1990s. He was also the owner of the Charlotte Checkers and the Greenville Grrowl.
Scheer sold his majority stake in the Checkers to Tim Braswell in late September 1996, only to become a minority owner of the franchise again on May 23, 2002, buying it from George Shinn and Ray Wooldridge. He sold his stake in the franchise to Michael Kahn on June 28, 2006.
He also sold his majority stake in the Grrrowl to a group of investors led by Champ Covington on April 1, 2005.
Scheer died on December 13, 2019.
