Timothy Arnold Braswell made his fortune in media. He was a minority owner of the Charlotte Checkers, alongside Kyle Petty, Richard Petty, Félix Sabates and Carl Scheer. He became the majority owner of the ECHL franchise, buying out Sabates and Scheer. He sold the franchise to George Shinn and Ray Wooldridge on June 1, 2000.

Braswell died on November 24, 2004.
