Elite Prospects Notes and Trivia
Star Bulls Rosenheim was founded 1994 as the successor to Sportbund DJK Rosenheim after the formation of DEL.
Hailing from the small town of Rosenheim, the Bavarian team was unable to replicate its success in the newly formed league and the holding company was forced to cease operations in 2000. The company sold the team DEL license to Iserlohner EC that subsequently became the Iserlohn Roosters following the license acquisition.
The team was a powerhouse of German hockey in the 1980s, thanks to the generous support of Rosenheim businessman Josef März. The team started to struggle financially in the early 1990s, finding it difficult to compete with the teams in major German cities. The support of the März came to an end in 1994.
The team was succeeded by Starbulls Rosenheim after the company ceased its operations.
