Idrottsföreningen Kamraterna i Åbo was founded in 1908 as a multi-sport club. The club is best known for handball, football and athletics, but it also operated a hockey section until 1967. The team was succeeded by Kiekko-67.
Similar to many other IFK clubs, it shares the basic logo design featuring a shield, a four-pointed star and the text IFK. It is adopted from the Swedish IFK central organization. However, unlike the Swedish clubs, ÅIFK and the other Finnish clubs, have been run independently and the logo design deviates from the Swedish canon both in design and colors.
